Department of Seaweed

Algae. In the last decade this broad spectrum of organisms has been explored as a material for making. It has been touted as ‘green gold’ as biofuel, offering an alternative to plastic and animal proteins in human nutrition, as we are exceeding the limits of our planetary resources. Its minerals and antioxidants can help us fight malnutrition and support human health.

With our over reliance on fossil fuel, plastics and mass produced meat - can algae help us overcome our addictions so we become less harmful to the eco-systems we all rely on?

The Department of Seaweed is a community dedicated to research and education on this topic.
